Melodie Music, the Australian-owned music licensing platform supporting creators, broadcasters and composers globally, has been selected as one of 33 finalists in the 2026 WIPO Global Awards, organised by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the United Nations’ specialised agency for innovation and intellectual property.
Chosen from more than 1,300 applicants across 126 countries, Melodie was recognised for its ethical approach to intellectual property, music licensing and creative technology — protecting and empowering creators and composers worldwide. Melodie Music is the first Australian company ever to be recognised as a finalist in the WIPO Global Awards.

The WIPO Global Awards celebrate startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that combine strong IP strategies with innovation and creativity to drive business growth while contributing positively to society and the Sustainable Development Goals. This year’s edition achieved record participation, with over 1,300 applications from 126 countries.
Finalists were assessed on the strength of their business case and IP portfolio, their IP commercialisation strategy, their internal IP culture, and their potential for impact toward a better society in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. Melodie was recognised within the Creative Industries category for its leadership in ethical music licensing and intellectual property stewardship in an era increasingly shaped by AI and automated content generation.

Eleven winners will be announced during the official WIPO Global Awards Ceremony on Friday, 10 July 2026, held during the WIPO Assemblies in Geneva, Switzerland.
